3 Things You Can Do To Cure Goiter In People With Hyperthyroidism and Graves' Disease

Goiter is a condition that is characterized by an enlargement of the thyroid gland. In people with hyperthyroidism and Graves' Disease it is usually caused by the overproduction of thyroid hormone, although it can also be caused by a malignancy, or an iodine deficiency. The typical goiter treatment consists of treating the hyperthyroid condition through anti-thyroid drugs or radioactive iodine. In some severe cases surgery is required, especially if the person has an obstruction that is causing difficulty in swallowing and/or breathing.
